Issues with custom status message

I tried searching the forums, but could not find this topic. Apologies if it has already been discussed.

I often use a custom status message to let others know how to reach me or if I am available. I also use other services, such as Google Latitude, to set my status based on location.

When I sign into my accounts using IM+, any custom status message is erased. Instead, I would prefer to have IM+ set the availability (i.e. Online, Away) but leave my custom message alone. This is especially true since I cannot set a custom status message from IM+.

Is there any chance that this issue will be addressed?
