What to do if IM+ crashes?
1. Let us know
Every time you start IM+ after crash, you will be offered to send a report to SHAPE Services. Please SEND. We analyze crash reports, find the reasons and implement fixes.
NOTE: Sometimes you may be offered to send crash report after you have quitted IM+ as usual. It means that application has closed incorrectly, though you may haven't noticed anything unusual. Anyway, please send us a report.
2. Provide more details
If you notice that IM+ crashes in similar situations (e.g. in a dialog, after receiving Push notification etc.), please add this information to crash report or post to this thread. It is important for us to find out in which situations crashes happen more often.
3. Remove IM+ from multitasking or soft-reset your device to free up memory.
That's how to remove from multitasking:
1. Double press the home button to bring up the apps running in the background.
2. Touch and hold IM+ icon.
3. Icons will wiggle. Press the red circle on IM+ icon.
That's how to soft-reset:
1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of the unit until a red slider appears.
2. Drag the slider on the screen.
3. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
4. If IM+ crashes frequently, reinstall it.
Most IM+ users experience crashes quite rarely or even never. But some users may experience them frequently.
If IM+ crashes too often and this bugs you a lot, the only solution is to remove it and then re-download from AppStore. Re-download is always free.
Note that in this case your account details and inbox messages will be deleted.
However, this usually helps to stop crashing.
5. If IM+ crashes, when you start it, please reinstall it.
Then please open IM+ and before you connect to the services please go to IM+ Settings / More and tap 'View'.
Please make sure that "No groups" is selected under 'Contact list groups' section. Do not change this option to avoid crashes.
Special note about old models:
If you use iOS 4 on old devices, like iPod Touch 2g or iPhone 2g, there will always be lack of free memory, which may cause instability of some applications, so IM+ may crash. To avoid this situation we would recommend to use official OS on old devices.
NOTE:
If IM+ closes on startup, but doesn't offer you to send a report to SHAPE Services next time you open it, this is not an application crash. Please check how other applications work. Most likely, there will be impossible to open other 3rd party apps also. This issue may happen sometimes, for example after OS updates, and is quite easy to solve.
Just open AppStore and download any free application. You will be prompted to enter your iTunes login and password. After this you will be able to use your apps. IM+ reinstallation is not required in this situation.
